Following the article in this week’s issue of Famitsu magazine, Capcom has shared additional details about the story and characters of Ace Attorney 6. First, we learn that the reason Phoenix Wright came to visit Kurain Kingdom is to meet up with Maya Fey, who is undergoind training. While waiting for her to be done with her training, he goes sightseeing with Bokuto Tsuani (the client in the first case).
At the same time, the Jewel of the Founder (Kurain Kingdom’s prized treasure) is stolen, and its guard killed. Potdino Niwakas (the Chief Priest) apparently saw eveything, and his testimony is what leads Bokuto Tsunai to be arrested. He is charged for murder and theft due to the Oracle of Spirits.
As mentioned previously, there is no defense lawyer in the courtrooms of Kurain Kingdom, and the Oracle of Spirits is the one who finds defendants guilty. Naturally, Phoenix Wright simply refuses to simply watch and let Bokuto Tsunai get convicted: he steps up and takes his defense… which leads to a complete change in behaviour. Bokuto then refuses to tell the truth. Apparently, defending someone is a serious crime in Kurain Kingdom.
Finally, two new characters are introduced:
- Potdino Niwakas: Cheif Priest of the Jiin Temple, but also a musician. Using his damaran (that he calls his partner), he performs the music for Padma Leyfa Kurain’s dance. He literally sings while testifying, which fascinated not only the audience but also the judge himself. He apparently saw the very moment Bokuto Tsuani killed the guard.
- Mitamaru: Bokuto Tsuani’s puppy. He usually stays in his bag, but when his master is in a pinch, he comes out and starts barking. He’s a prideful Tibetan Mastiff, who might play a surprisingly big role in the game…

The official website also gives details about the Medium Vision, which is apparently able to pick up the other senses of the victim (not just vision): details related to hearing and smell also appear. You need to pay attention to those too, but also the size and the position of the characters in the vision.
The size of the characters indicates the intensity of the victim’s feelings. To get close to the truth, you need to pay special attention to the visuals (what the victim has seen), but also the position and the size of the characters.
But that’s not all: Leyfa Padma Kurai (who performs the Medium Vision) can sharpen her senses, which allows you to get minute details and maybe find some new clues. If you do find something new, that will change the interpretation of the vision, which is how you get closer to the truth.

Ace Attorney 6 (3DS) comes out on June 9th in Japan. A European and North American release has already been confirmed.

Today, YTV revealed a second trailer/promo video for Sono “Shinjitsu”, Igiari! (which could be translated as “Ace Attorney: I object to that truth!”), the Ace Attorney anime series. It will be broadcast every Saturday on Yomiuri Television and Nippon Television channels), from April 2nd at 5.30PM JST. It was also revealed that the opening song would be “Gyakuten Winner”, by Johnny’s WEST (a male idol band).
