amiibo were introduced on Wii U, then Nintendo 3DS, and to the surprise of no one, they will also be used on the Nintendo Switch. In fact, Nintendo announced a compatible game even before the Nintendo Switch was revealed… The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild!

We already know that the Wolf Link amiibo would let you summon Wolf Link in the game, so that he can help you during your adventure. But what about the Legend of Zelda: 30th Anniversary released yesterday in Europe and North America (and on Thursday in Japan)?

Well, Nintendo shared some juicy details on its Tumblr page:

  • 8-bit Link will reward you with a random number of barrels, sometime with rupees inside.
  • Ocarina of Time Link will reward you with a random amount of meat.
  • Toon Link will reward you with a random amount of fish.
  • Wind Waker Zelda will reward you with a random selection of plants.

And sometimes, you will get a treasure chest (containing a rare item) along with the goodies listed above… but only if you’re really lucky.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (Wii U, Switch) comes out in 2017, worldwide.

Thanks to Nintendo’s CPSIA’s page (Certificate of Compliance, for amiibo), we have our first look at the “new” packaging for amiibo, featuring the “new” Nintendo logo (with the red background):

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – Guardian amiibo comes out in 2017, worldwide.
The Yoshi’s Woolly World – Yarn Poochy amiibo comes out on January 19th in Japan, and February 3rd in Europe and North America.
