ARMS: Nintendo details the 5 control schemes
While ARMS is one of the games Nintendo has been using to showcase motion controls on the Nintendo Switch, it’s already been confirmed that those would not be mandatory. In fact, the game will offer no less than 5 different control schemes, that Nintendo detailed over on Twitter today, ahead of the ARMS Global Testpunch this week-end.
Here’s the 5 control schemes for ARMS:
Thumps-up Grip
- L: Dash
- Up: Change Target (for matches with at least 3 players)
- Incline both Joy-Cons Left or Right: Move
- Incline Joy-Cons towards each other: Guard
- ZR: Rush
- R: Jump
- Move Left or Right Joy-Con forward: Punch
- Move both Left and Right Joy-Cons forward: Grab

Joy-Con Grip and Handheld Mode
- R: Rush
- Control stick: Move
- Control stick (press): Guard
- Up: Change Target (for matches with at least 3 players)
- X: Jump
- Y: Dash
- A: Right punch
- B: Left punch
- A+B: Grab
Single Joy-Con
- SR: Rush
- Control stick: Move
- Control stick (press): Guard
- ZL: Change Target (for matches with at least 3 players)
- X: Jump
- Y: Dash
- A: Right punch
- B: Left punch
- A+B: Grab
Nintendo Switch Pro Controller
- R: Rush
- Control stick: Move
- Control stick (press): Guard
- Up: Change Target (for matches with at least 3 players)
