Dragon Quest: world record for Koichi Sugiyama (composer), commercial for DQ7 3DS
Koichi Sugiyama
Koichi Sugiyama is the composer of the Dragon Quest series, and he’s worked on the soundtrack of pretty much every (notable) entry. He’s one of the legendary video game composers… and now the holder of a world record.
Yesterday, it was announced that Koichi Sugiyama was now officially the oldest video game composer in the world, aged 85 (85 years and 292 days, to be more precise!). Born in 1931, he made his debut in 1958, and hasn’t stopped composing since then… In fact, at this very moment, he’s working on the soundtrack of Dragon Quest XI (releasing next year on NX and Nintendo 3DS).
