Dragon Quest XI: latest details from Jump magazine (Mount system)
A while ago, it was revealed that Dragon Quest XI: Sugisarishi Toki o Motomete would be feature mounts: monsters that you can ride on the field (you can check out some footage in this post). And thanks to leaked scans from Jump magazine, we now have proper details about this gameplay system.
In order to mount a monster, you first need to defeat it in battle. By riding monsters, you will be able to reach places you simply couldn’t while on foot, by overcoming obstacles for example. Naturally, you can also fly if you find a monster that can do so.
Here’s two examples of monsters you can ride:
- Dragon Rider: allows you to reach place you couldn’t while on foot;
- Skull Rider: allows you to climb up cliffs and dungeons walls, that only six-legged monsters can climb.
Finally, the magazine introduces not one, but two new monsters:
- Pearl Mobile: a machine-like monsters, made of pearl-like metal. Be careful: it releases numbing gas. It’s one of the monsters you can ride on the field: they allow you to jump higher;
- Bee Rider: an Elite Octobolt riding a giant bee, who attacks you with the bees’s needle and a lance. You can ride the bee and cross over lakes for example.
Finally, here’s the latest scans from Jump magazine and some screenshots:
Dragon Quest XI: Sugisarishi Toki o Motomete (3DS) comes out on July 29th in Japan. The Nintendo Switch version will follow at a later date.
