Hyrule Warriors Legends comes out in less than a week in Japan (on January 21st, to be more precise), and Koei-Tecmo has been showcasing the game a lot lately, with several official gameplay videos (click here or here). But there’s nothing like playing the game on an actual console in order to find out for yourself if this portable version is worth it or not.
Good news: a demo version is coming pretty soon to the Nintendo eShop in Japan! We don’t have many details at the moment, but we do know it can be played up to 30 times (which is the standard limit for demos). It looks like it gives access to the first mission, on Hyrule Field (without the boss battle against King Dodongo). Playable characters include Link, Zelda, and Impa (with their standard weapon).Unfortunately, even if you head to the Nintendo eShop on your Japanese Nintendo 3DS right now, you will not find anything… Indeed, the only way to get that Hyrule Warriors Legends demo for now is to buy the latest issue of CoroCoro magazine (which came out today in Japan). Inside, there’s a QR Code to scan, which will let you download the trial version.
That being said, the official Twitter account specifies that CoroCoro magazine only gives you an early access to the demo. In other words, it guarantees that it will be released on the Nintendo eShop (for everyone) pretty soon. It will most likely be released on Wednesday, at the same time as the weekly Nintendo eShop update.
It’s also likely that the demo will be released in Europe and North America, but that’s not something Nintendo will confirm until closer to launch. Anyway, it’s pretty interesting to see Koei-Tecmo releasing a demo version for Hyrule Warriors Legends, even though the original on Wii U didn’t get one…
Hyrule Warriors Legends (3DS) comes out on January 21st in Japan, and March 25th in Europe and North America.
