Luigi’s Mansion (3DS) developed by Grezzo

During the latest Nintendo Direct presentation, a Nintendo 3DS port of the original Luigi’s Mansion was announced. Nintendo didn’t specify who was developing it, but most people assumed it was done by Next Level Games (who previously developed Luigi’s Mansion 2).

But it turns out it’s Grezzo, who previously worked on The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D, The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D, and Ever Oasis, that’s working on Luigi’s Mansion for Nintendo 3DS.

Nintendo hasn’t made an official statement on the matter, but thanks to a listing on the Australian Classification Board website, we finally know who is behind this port!

This certainly makes us wonder what on earth the developers at Next Level Games are currently working on. It’s already been (almost) two years since the infamous Metroid Prime: Federation Force after all. All we know is that the studio is now working exclusively with Nintendo; they said as much a few years ago.

And of course, there’s Grezzo itself. Since Ever Oasis really didn’t set the charts on fire anywhere in the world, it was unlikely they were porting it to the Nintendo Switch (leter alone developing a sequel). It’s pretty much guaranteed they are already working on something for the Nintendo Switch, but this “announcement” implies it’s going to be a little while before we find out what game it could be!

Luigi’s Mansion (3DS) comes out later this year, worldwide.
