Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam – More details about the battle cards, videos
Battle cards
Today, Nintendo finally opened the last section of the official website for Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam Bros. It reveals some additional details about the battle cards, including how you can use amiibo you create some. As mentioned during the Nintendo Direct, battle cards are cards you use in battle to damage/weaken enemies, heal yourself, and more.
We learn that in order to use a battle card, you need to have enough star points (you can see how much you have at the top left corner of the bottom screen). You can use up to three cards at once, but you will need the necessary amount of star points to do so. Good news: you can use the cards as many times as you want, as they do not disappear after using them. Also, you can make a set of 10 cards to use in battle.
To get cards, you can either:
- buy them in a shop
- get them by defeating enemies
- get them as reward for completing quests
You can also use amiibo in order to create special battle cards, more powerful than the regular ones. There’s a total of 100 possible designs, and you can even create some special cards by:
- scanning two different amiibo together (such as Luigi and Mario for example), in order to create a Pair Card
- scanning two amiibo for the same character (such as Mario), in order to create a Foil Card
As mentioned previously, the game is compatible with all versions of the following amiibo:
- Mario
- Luigi
- Peach
- Yoshi
- Bowser
- Toad
