Nintendo Switch: Hori releasing its arcade stick in July in Japan + Hori Pad

For fighting games, you can definitely use a standard controller to play. But for fighting game enthusiasts, there’s nothing like an arcade stick, for the most genuine arcade experience possible. There isn’t any model compatible with the Nintendo Switch just yet, but fortunately, there will soon be one, courtesy of Hori.

Today, Hori announced that its Real Arcade Pro V Hayabusa for Nintendo Switch stick would be released in July in Japan. As the name indicates, it’s an arcade stick compatible with the Nintendo Switch, but it can also be used on a PC (since it’s compatible with Xinput).

This arcade stick comes with various features, such as a Turbo feature (5, 12, or 20 times per second), the ability to assign buttons (such as L, ZL, or + / Start) or set how the stick is used (as the D-Pad, the right stick, or the left one), and even a Tournament Mode (that disables the + / Start button).

The Real Arcade Pro V Hayabusa for Nintendo Switch will be released in July in Japan, and will cost 16 178 Yen (129€ / £111 / $144). Its size is 430 mm × 240 mm × 114 mm, and the thing weighs no less than 2.2kg. Its wired, with the cable measuring about 3m.

And in July, Hori will also release their Hori Pad for the Nintendo Switch. Its main feature is the D-Pad, which can be removed, allowing you to use the same direction buttons as the Joy-Cons (pretty useful for games that use them as actual buttons, and not as D-Pad). You can put the D-Pad to the back of the controller, so as not to lose it.

Unfortunately, it’s a pretty standard gamepad, and therefore, it’s missing many of the Nintendo Switch exclusive features such as motion controls, the IR camera, the player and notification LEDs, HD Rumble, and NFC (but it does have the same turbo feature as the Arcade stick). It’s also a wired gamepad, with the cable measuring about 3m. Its size is 150 mm × 110 mm × 60 mm, and it weighs 250g.

The good news is that Hori Pad is much cheaper than a Nintendo Switch Pro Controller: only 3 218 Yen (25€ / $28 / £22).
