Shin Megami Tensei: Deep Strange Journey – Details on the new elements, screens
A few days ago, Atlus announced Shin Megami Tensei: Deep Strange Journey for the Nintendo 3DS. It’s not a sequel to Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey, but instead a remake/enhanced port with additional content and features. Today, the company finally opened the official website for the game, sharing some more details and pictures. As usual, a big thanks to Gematsu for the translations.
Let’s start with the new content: this version of the game features some new story elements, and a new character called Alex (voiced by Megumi Han). During the exploration of the Schwarzwelt (the ruined land that appeared in the Antartic), she suddenly attacks the protagonist and his team, though it’s not clear why. You will have to reach the new ending to find out !
The game features over 350 demons, including some brand new ones designed by Masayuki Doi (who also designed the new character, Alex). There’s also some new facial expressions for the existing characters, from the original game. As far as sound goes, Shin Megami Tensei: Deep Strange Journey features some new music tracks (composed by Shoji Meguro and Toshiki Konishi), but also voice acting.
Speaking of voice acting, here’s who’s voicing the main characters:
- Protagonist (voiced by Jun Hirose)
- Gore (voiced by Unsho Ishizuka)
- Jimenez (voiced by Takahiro Sakurai)
- Zelenin (voiced by Maaya Sakamoto)
- Alex (voiced by Megumi Han
Finally, Atlus mentions new gameplay elements and features, such as new skills, three difficulty levels, new save system (you can save at any time in a dungeon), and refined interface.
Here’s various screenshots and artworks from the official website:
