Super Mario Maker: first update available in Japan (Ver. 1.01)
Super Mario Maker is now available in Japan, both at retail and on the Nintendo eShop: Nintendo even uploaded the PDF of the Artbook, for everyone to read. But it’s not just the game that’s available… the very first update is too! However, do not expect anything spectacular, as this update only adds some small tidbits but nothing major.
This first update brings Super Mario Maker to Ver. 1.01, with the following additions/changes:
- “Create a course” scene: a small element was added.
- Condition(s) for increasing the amount of useable parts (in the level editor) were added.
- Various changes meant to improve the gameplay experience.
This update may not add anything significant to the game, it’s still rather big: you need 201MB of free space on your Wii U and/or external HDD to download it. And to do so, you have two options:
- let the console do its thing, if you have automatic downloads activated on your Wii U;
- launch Super Mario Maker from the Home Menu (not the Quick Start menu), in order to trigger the update download manually.
To check that you have the latest version of Super Mario Maker, launch the game: you should see “ver. 1.01” at the bottom right corner of the TV screen.
Of course, the update will most likely be available tomorrow for players in Europe and North America.
