Xenoblade Chronicles X: more info about the battle system
This morning, Monolith Software updated their official website for Xenoblade Chronicles, with some additional on the battle system. A screenshot allows us to get a good look at the UI:
– Top left: character info
– Top center: monsters/enemy info (aggro, PV, level, name)
– Bottom center: Arts palette, the kind of weapon you’re using, your position (important for attacks where your position matters).
There’s also some additional info about some elements of the battle system:
– TP: Tension Points, fill up when you use auto-attacks;
– Inner level: the raw power of your characters
– Class Rank
And finally, some of the commands you can use in battle:
– Target Enemy: allows you to target the closest enemy;
– Draw Weapon: allows you to start the battle;
– Target Lock: focus your view on the enemy/monster you’re targetting;
– Switch targets: allows you to switch which monster/enemy you’re targetting;
– Parts Lock: allows you to aim at a very specific part of a monster/enemy;
– Switch Weapon: allows you to switch from melee to shooting attacks (and vice-versa);
– Arts: allows you to use Arts. If you have 1000 TP or more, you can unleash Tension Arts (even more powerful);
– Help Up: allows you to revive a fallen character; requires 3000TP;
– Ally Commands: allows you to give some commands to the other characters (such as “concentre attacks” or “gather”);
– Indicate Battle Menu: pretty much the same thing as Ally Commands, but for individual characters. Some of the commands include: “attack with melee”, “attack with shooting”, “get in your doll”. You can even chose to make an emergency escape (needs 15 seconds): after that, you’ll end up at the nearest landmark visited;
– Retreat: allows you to stop fighting and escape.
Xenoblade Chronicles X (Wii U) comes out on April 29th in Japan, and later this year in Europe and North America.
